FRA-OS/ Import
As a component of FAIR@Link, FRA-OS/Import streamlines, standardizes, and simplifies customs and import processes at Frankfurt Airport.
This project was implemented within the Cargo Community System for Frankfurt Airport in collaboration with Fraport as the investor, the Freight Forwarding and Logistics Association of Hesse-Rhineland-Palatinate (SLV), the Association of Air Cargo Handlers in Germany (VACAD), and the customs office responsible for cargo at Frankfurt Airport.
FRA/OS will further advance digitalization in the cargo business and reinforce Frankfurt Airport’s role as Europe’s leading cargo hub. FRA-OS builds on the FAIR@Link communication platform, which will remain the central communication platform at the site. However, FRA-OS expands upon this by incorporating key site-specific topics and cross-functional capabilities for air cargo in Frankfurt.

Each individual shipment must be presented to customs. This is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Often, not all shipment information is immediately available. In addition, it is essential for customs to have an overview of the location of individual shipments and the time required to present them.
The requirements set forth in the EU Customs Code for importing consolidated shipments are challenging.
- ICS 1: Submission of the Summary Arrival Declaration (ESumA or ENS) no later than 4 hours before landing for risk assessment by Customs
- 1:1 referencing (eSumA:SumA) can be set up at the HAWB level by the cargo handling agent or, as of recently, also by the freight forwarder
- Proof of the immediate delivery and the whereabouts of the cargo after landing
